Fall Vocabulary 4

1) Adroit: clever or skillful in using the hands or mind
     -- She is very adroit when it comes to musical talents.

2) Averse: having s strong dislike or opposition to something
     -- Some people are averse on watching horror films.

3) Amicable: (relation between people) having a spirit of friendliness; without serious disagreement
     -- The relationship I have with my best friends is an amicable one.

4) Belligerent: hostile and aggressive
     -- Every mother is belligerent over their children.

5) Benevolent: well meaning ad kindly
    -- The old lady gave her grandchildren a benevolent smile.

6) Cursory: hasty and therefore not thorough or detailed
     -- I took a quick cursory glance at the article my teacher assigned to the class.

7) Duplicity: deceitfulness, double-dealing
     -- You shouldn't be tricked into duplicity by sinful people.

8) Extol: praise enthusiastically
    -- The students extolled about the re-schedule of the quiz.

9) Feasible: possible to do easily or conveniently
     -- The group of girls found it feasible to run rather than play volleyball.

10) Grimace: an ugly twisted expression to a person's face; typically expressing disgust and pain

11) Holocaust: destruction o slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.

12) Impervious: not allowing fluid to pass through

14) Jeopardy: danger of loss, harm, or failure

15) Meticulous: showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise

16) Nostalgia: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy associations.

17) Quintessence: the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class.

18) Retrogress: go back to an earlier state, typically a worse one
       -- She retrogressed to the starting point of her rehabilitation.

19) Scrutinize: examine or inspect closely and thoroughly
      -- Students were warned to scrutinize the review quiz.

20) Tepid: (especially of a fluid) only slightly warm
     -- The tepid saliva of my dog is on my pillow.
