Chapter 2

  • Tom dragged Nick into this garage (cars bought and sold) to see his girl
  • Turns out, Tom's "girl" is also cheating on her husband, Wilson.
  • Tom and Myrtle goes to New York -------> Wilson thinks that she goes to see her sister
  • Tom and Myrtle have an apartment together in New York
  • Myrtle's sister, Catherine, whispers to Nick "Why be married to people you can't stand ? Just get a divorce and get married to each other already!"

What we talked about in class and chapter 2 notes

Today in class we covered up what was confusing to me and the class about chapter 1 :

  • Daisy (2nd cousin removed), just a distant relative. Daisy and Nick are close enough to go to each others houses to have dinner, but not that close to trust each other
  • Miss Barry is just a friend of Daisy and Tom and is NOT the one who's having an affair with Tom.
I honestly don't know anything for chapter 2 to come up with notes since we were rushing the reading a bit due to the 5 min. of class we had left.

Great Gatsby Remix

Warning!! This remix will be so crappy. The class and I didn't quite finish chapter 1 and I'm still getting use to this kind of style of writing so this remix will only be about from what I know. For this remix, I will be writing a poem based from what I have gotten so far from this book.

The narrator is chill and laid back
but chapter 1 was a little bit difficult for me to crack
His father tells him not to judge people
and learns that some people are evil
The narrator finds a man interesting and finds a man unbelieving
His name is Gatsby (Wow that did not rhyme at all! Whoops.)
I don't know much from this chapter, and some of you might find this chapter cool
But I know the foreshadow, that beautiful girls are fools.

HAHA this sucks, I know. I tried so hard for everything to rhyme.

The Great Gatsby Notes #2

• characters introduced: 1) Tom Buchahan
                                       2) Daisy (wife of tom)
                                       3) Miss Baker
• Tom Buchahan = a bully and a racist douchebag
• "Nouns are very expressive even if they're not saying anything" - Dr. Preston
• author used divan (couch) to make the readers feel sophisticated
• Miss baker looks down on Nick for living at the West Egg
• Foreshadow ---- "...I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool - that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful fool."

The Great Gatsby Notes #1

• the narrator is a very chill low key person
• father tells son to not judge other people
• the narrator learns that people lie, exaggerate, etc ---------> not everyone is nice and honest
• has interest in Gatsby
• lives at the west wigg and his house is crappy compared to gatsbys mansion

Music as literature

Can we consider music as literature ? Uhh duh! Of course we can consider music as literature. Music and literature are so much alike. When you think of literature you think of writing, and when you think of writing, you think of books. What do books do ? They tell a story. Songs tells stories. There is no song in the world that does not tell a story or have any meaning. In literature, poems are also used. Well, there are many poetic songs out there such as "Take me to Church" by Hozier or even "Let her go" by the Passengers ( I recommend to listen to these songs because they're hella catchy ). Literature and Music both have meanings and a story.

HELLO 2017!

New year new me!! Haha just kidding. To be honest, I haven't changed that much. But as the year 2016 went by, I made some mistakes and I'm not ashamed of them. You know what they say "We learn from our mistakes.", so there is no way I'm going to repeat them in 2017. I haven't changed a whole lot but I did mature and took responsibility better than the me in January 2016. I'll try my best to make this my year, if not, there are still plenty of years to come :D.
